Campus Safety Day is Thursday, Feburary 14. Presentations will be held during Campus Safety Week, Feburary 11 through Feburary 15.

On February 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., campus safety day activities will include:

  • K-9 officer demonstrations every hour
  • DUI/Texting Simulator
  • SkyCop Mobile Video Monitoring and Georgia Tech/Atlanta police car
  • Atlanta Police Mounted Patrol with their horses and Georgia Tech Equestrian Club
  • Information tables featuring Georgia Tech Police, Emergency Preparedness, McGruff the Crime Dog, Bicycle Infrastructure Improvement Committee, Environmental Health and Safety, MARTA Police, and more

Police K9 Presentation

Monday, February 11, 2013 from 5:00PM to 6:00PM

The K9 Unit of the Georgia Tech Police Department will share insights and information about this fascinating facet of police work. You will learn about the general functions of the K9 unit, along with what the dogs are used for and how they are trained. The presentation will include a demonstration of the principals employed in training the dogs.

 

The risks of alcohol and drug use

Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 5:00PM to 6:00PM

In this presentation, the Georgia Tech Police Department will educate you on the risks of alcohol and drug use. The presentation will include a hands-on exercise with our beer goggles and also focus on legal repercussions, Institute policy, signs of drug use/abuse, and myths about alcohol. Please join us to learn more about this important topic in the college environment.

 

Physical Security

Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 6:00PM to 7:00PM

In this “Physical Security” presentation, the Georgia Tech Police Department will provide detailed information about theories, best practices, equipment, and technologies used to enhance safety and security on the Georgia Tech campus. The presentation will also give you a better understanding of physical security measures and principles you can employ to increase your personal safety at home and while traveling.
