Campus Safety Partnerships

Georgia Tech Police Department law enforcement officers and staff work proactively with a wide variety of organizations both on- and off- campus, to build strong relationships and transparency for change and improvement. Working closely with student groups, Institute committees, task force groups, and Atlanta neighborhood associations enables all parties to share knowledge, increase understanding of issues, and develop respect for diversity of experience. Important campus safety partnerships include:

  • VOICE is an collaborative prevention and response initiative designed to increase knowledge and skills around sexual violence, stalking, and sexual harassment. Through Georgia Tech Health Initiatives, two confidential GT Victim-Survivor Advocates are available to provide personal support to victim-survivors of sexual violence.   • GT Parking & Transportation's Stingerette service ensures safe after-hours transportation for students and staff.
  • To report inoperative or missing exterior campus lighting to Infrastructure and Sustainability, submit an Outdoor Lighting Request at https://facilities.gatech.edu/outdoor-lighting-request
  • GT CARE, the primary resource for mental health assessment and referral at Georgia Tech. They work closely with GT Counseling Center to provide students with a variety of counseling and mental health services.
  • GT Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides employees with a variety of counseling and mental health services.
  • Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion provide several reporting options for those who believe they are experiencing a violation of Georgia Tech's discrimination-based policies, including Title IX
  • The USG Ethics Hotline ("EthicsPoint") is available online and by calling 1-877-516-3466 to anonymously report issues of suspected fraud, waste or abuse.

During times of high mental stress for students, such as exam periods, GTPD partners with mental health counselors at the Georgia Crisis and Access Line. These counselors will ride along with officers to provide immediate services to students in crisis.

Law Enforcement Partnerships are an important part of providing safety to the campus community. GTPD works closely with city, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and community organizations throughout Georgia. A memorandum of understanding between GTPD and multiple law enforcement agencies is in place to facilitate effective collaboration on the investigation of criminal offenses.
