In 1986 Sergeant Gary F. Beringause was killed during an escort assignment when the vehicle in which he was traveling was hit by a tractor-trailer. Our popular community room has been dedicated to the memory of Sergeant Beringause, a much loved and respected member of the Georgia Tech community for 14 years. In 2020, Investigator James Cornacchia died from complications as the result of contracting COVID-19. He had served with the Georgia Tech Police Department for 19 years, and was promoted from Officer to Investigator posthumously, as he had been training in the GTPD Criminal Investigations Division.
