GTPD now has four K9 units that not only secure special events but help train other law enformencent units throughout Georgia.

It's a little known fact that the Georgia Tech Police Department serves as the state's primary trainer of K9 units, both dogs and handlers. Through a program with Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security, GTPD Officer Rob Turner is the state's lead instructor.

Because of the demand for training of these explosive-detecting dogs, GTPD has expanded its K9 corps to four and continue to play a vital role for major events on campus such as football games and Commencement. Read more about the officers, their dogs and their vital role on campus.
