The Georgia Tech Police Department has been accredited since 2013 as a Law Enforcement Agency by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The standards cover six major areas:
- Roles, responsibilities, and relationships with other agencies
- Organization, management and administration
- Personnel administration
- Law enforcement operations, operational support, and traffic law enforcement
- Detainee and court-related services
- Auxiliary and technical services.
CALEA has a Public Comment Portal to receive comments regarding our agency’s compliance with CALEA accreditation standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. The accreditation feedback process intends to gather information to provide the Georgia Tech Police Department with the support needed for continuous improvement and foster the pursuit of professional excellence.
IMPORTANT: CALEA is not an investigatory body and subsequently the public portal should not be used to submit information for such purposes. Additionally, there will be no response other than acknowledgment of submissions; however, the information will be considered in context to its relevancy to compliance with standards and the tenets of CALEA® Accreditation.
