Bicycle And Motorcycle Units
The primary duties of the Motorcycle Unit are traffic enforcement, pedestrian traffic control and enforcement, accident reduction enforcement, escorts, and special event traffic control. Because of their mobility, motorcycle officers can respond to some calls faster than a patrol vehicle. Escorts, parades, traffic and crowd control associated with special events are areas in which motorcycle officers are very effective.
The Bicycle Patrol is intended to provide a higher police presence in and around the Georgia Tech campus. The Bicycle Patrol expands the capabilities of the campus police by providing officers the ability to initiate proactive law enforcement to all areas of the Georgia Tech campus regardless of location or terrain. The Bicycle Patrol enables officers a quick and efficient response to emergency and routine calls. The Bicycle Patrol also enables officers to conduct overt and covert patrols.
